character

Bismillah..

a brief moment please
for this nature's marine contender

this little one was scurrying away as we strolled down the beach
yet when it saw us, it stopped
upon reaching him,
his claws down, wary
tried to nudge it with a shell and what grip he had!
another shell, and he made an amusing picture
like a samurai with two swords
first nudge, his two legs wouldn't budge
another, the other pair
another, the last pair

what stance he had!
like a warrior ready for war
how I wished I brought a camera then

*snap*
mental picture
f & me made a little bow
"respect"

why?
The essential thing is not knowledge, but character.
Joseph Le Conte

what makes a character?
Our character is but the stamp on our souls of the free choices of good and evil we have made through life.
John C. Geikie

Reputation is what men and women think of us;
character is what God and angels know of us.
Thomas Paine

How to build that (good, strong character):
"Talents are best nurtured in solitude.
Character is best formed in the stormy billows of the world."
Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

It requires less character to discover the faults of others,
than to tolerate them.
J. Petit Senn
(LOVE this!)

Sow an act,
and you reap a habit;
sow a habit,
and you reap a character;
sow a character,
and you reap a destiny.
George Dana Boardman

Character is, for the most part,
simply habit become fixed.
C. H. Parkhurst

Point taken, Gentlemen~
