Glass

Bismillah..

"A child's love for her parents

Pure. Precious. Priceless"
-27.09.2012
.
.
.

"Sungguh, Allah swt itu Maha Halus"

How careful we are, either young or old
when we entered a glass shop
ridiculously expensive and fragile,
yet so exquisitely beautiful
its intricate patterns
complements even the lightest of colour

anything is best done with the clearest of intention

life could be difficult, rocky, murky business
challenge even our best intention

how true can we be?
when money matters during debt and poverty
when pride matters during reunions and alumni parties

when Rasulullah saw were spreading da'wah
the musyrikin said these
that they would give him all: money, highest status, most beautiful of women
in exchange of the life he was leading
of extreme difficulty, mockery, backlashes, boycotts
and yet he rejected all that
just to spread the message of syahadah
just that 1 kalimah
one word, and yet shook their hearts to the core
of the extent these muslims would dig their soles into the earth
"win or die"

it may be nothing to the world
but this is more precious than all of those worldly things
this syahadah
any effort to spread it, to live with it
even though where I stood is a shifting desert (uncertain future)
but I accept it, O Allah swt
the purest of intention is in gaining Your redha

Amin Amin Ya Rabbal Alamin~

Selfless

Bismillah..

Alhamdulillah, didn't expect that~ :")
tired, yes...but the heart becomes light enough that the weariness seeps away by every recollections, every remembrance.
Most heartfelt Syawal I've ever had so far, MasyaAllah~
Tomorrow would be the last day of Syawal, so it's a REALLY good closure.

Just had a Majlis 3 Serangkai (Teacher's Day, Hari Raya celebration and Islamic Poetry combined)...not exactly what you called perfect.
Yet, it's our first, and I'm very proud of them kids.
Love the interaction with parents, and them amongst themselves. Like a familiarity of brotherhood in Islam. Just that. All have the best interest for their children at heart, to take a chance to trust their kids to us, in learning Islamic values over solely academic achievements. To trust these very very young teachers, in their trials and errors, and us (both parents and educators) learning from each other.

Can't.be.described.
when the children (6-8 years old) were asked to reflect on that song (Ayah dan Ibu), suddenly, they are choking in tears. MasyaAllah, they are playful, mischievous but their heart..so easily moved. Even the play is simple, yet still manage to wrought out tears from audience. Not perfect but heartfelt. Truly heartfelt.
when two parents stood by each other, who have their kids as classmates since KG 1 (now KG3), actually 'conversing' with each other...the other heavily pregnant. I don't know...contentment, perhaps. I sense contentment, in being so familiar, rather than formal. This type of relationship..is maybe something I could relate to being in a real community. Caring, loving, helping each other out, all those feeling under one roof tonight.

maybe it's being delusional, but I'd like that. To have my whole community (my country) to bond over like that, too. Despite the many faults: agreed to work together, to have a bit of patience, to make way for others in those cramped hallway, to willingly try new things...
*laugh* it's like am seeing them in a new light....rather than it's all about their kids...some parents are pretty defensive at that front.
but tonight is about them, really. The father. The mother. just us together, laughing at the stacks of food, pampering the kids and *ehem* ourselves.

Please bless us all, O Allah~
Alight our hearts with Your hidayah, and may we learn the peace, the tranquility of being under Your roof~ The nikmat of syahadah. To be selfless infront of You.

This (ukhuwwah) is sweet. ^^

Right person, right time

Bismillah..

At first glance (or in this case, heard), one would probably think of something across the line of serendipity (fate, chance encounter). There's even a movie about that, but that's another story.
.
.
.
This one is an elder's message to a random stranger. It's her first time visiting that house (mind you, it's Hari Raya), and the host's father struck into a conversation with her. Out of nowhere he suddenly speaks about that..
"right person, right time"

fate

upon first hearing it, mind shoots straight to the intended person
of the impact
life came late for her (career, family)
it's a struggle, that one could only sympathize
but the challenge...

only a strong one could bear it actually
the patience it takes

so when I've heard this
"perfect"
it's the perfect advice
everything...and I mean everything is ordained
not a burden, a life choice gone wrong
but this is as it should be
the right person
your existence is valued (acknowledge it yourself)
the right time
there's nothing too early or too late (this IS the right time)

"sweet kn, bapa atu"
indeed, KM

...and the AMAZING thing really
what we (narrator and listener) silently agreed

of how Allah SWT had put those words in the host's father mouth
from a stranger
yet, an issue so personal
so dear to the heart

of how Allah SWT way of answering her prayers
"be at ease"
"it's true...everyone, everything...
right person, right time"

ironically, he was talking about death
which is actually, more profound
since Ramadhan up till now
plane-crash, car fire explosion, carbon monoxide poisoning, car crashes
crazy
too young?
no
"right time, right person"

strange, right?
the interpretation of that word
could mean differently to different people

character

Bismillah..

a brief moment please
for this nature's marine contender

this little one was scurrying away as we strolled down the beach
yet when it saw us, it stopped
upon reaching him,
his claws down, wary
tried to nudge it with a shell and what grip he had!
another shell, and he made an amusing picture
like a samurai with two swords
first nudge, his two legs wouldn't budge
another, the other pair
another, the last pair

what stance he had!
like a warrior ready for war
how I wished I brought a camera then

*snap*
mental picture
f & me made a little bow
"respect"

why?
The essential thing is not knowledge, but character.
Joseph Le Conte

what makes a character?
Our character is but the stamp on our souls of the free choices of good and evil we have made through life.
John C. Geikie

Reputation is what men and women think of us;
character is what God and angels know of us.
Thomas Paine

How to build that (good, strong character):
"Talents are best nurtured in solitude.
Character is best formed in the stormy billows of the world."
Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

It requires less character to discover the faults of others,
than to tolerate them.
J. Petit Senn
(LOVE this!)

Sow an act,
and you reap a habit;
sow a habit,
and you reap a character;
sow a character,
and you reap a destiny.
George Dana Boardman

Character is, for the most part,
simply habit become fixed.
C. H. Parkhurst
